Also check this out for anb animation style. plan b video... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qv5-m9Yy9rA

cassettes

Ideas for the horror story: Firstly not too sure if the name is great lol, but anyway, cassette/film reels for the animation aspect. Ive cut out two black cassette reels in card so will try and make those move in flash. Another aspect to the design would be to animate the tape itself dispersing over the page and creatinig a mess! We can provide two links for the videos which are now uploaded on youtube, ive got the codes to put into dreamweaver. Ill upload some imagery later on!

I went to wilkos and took a few samples of their tasty floral wallpaper. Heres some of the samples, was thinking of using it for the background of the homesweet home game page.

That is a lot of cogs im nominating lucy to draw them!

look what i found :D

1st recording of a lock locking!
Heres the pic
Heres some ideas for the Home sweet home game, looking at rollovers and how the valuable items can be shown through the eyes of a thief. Next ill look at colour charts to represent higher and lower values.
hey luce that light one works real nice :)
These are just some images i have been playing around with

Looked at different ways we can approach the index page and I did some textured backgrounds using them as possibilities for the final version

This one i created on photoshop by scanning in a sheet of metallic colour silverish paper and then work on top with other images such as parcel paper and with the use of the brush tool to create different effects of shadow and light in the creases. Then simply traced over the photograph we have taken of the lock and tweeked the colouring to produce this..

Video Horror Story

Heres the two 'interviews' we did earlier of a student who has been a victim of crime since being at Uni. The quality isn't the best with dark lighting and interfered sound but this does take on a quality that fits the direction of the website.

the background

ouch i didnt realise it was so flourecent yellow on the mac screen compared to my laptop at home, damn you colour resolution!!! but will make a new one now :)
done some random experimentations, looking what inside a lock and mechanisms we could use for the menu page:

Some research materials used before designing the site map taken from Creative Review and the Student Survival Guide handed out during freshers week, which provided useful content to work on.

potential background

This is a background i created this morning to see if i can actually make one to suite the theme were going with. Its similar to Johnathan Ellerys work found at : http://www.creativereview.co.uk/crblog/edited-highlights/

the plan..

i produced a mini size of our plan we did in the studio in my sketchbook lastnight. looks good to me guys but we need to start doing it... :)

Another reference to a website which has been influential with the layout style of our website: www.billyharvey.com. The site isn't a never ending list of links but more of a map by which you can navigate freely through. (There is also the menu positioned on the left of the screen for quicker navigation.) The idea though is that all the information is on the same page but can be uncovered by navigating through hidden/unlocked layers of the page.

17/10/07

Went to Nottingham castle and took photos of old locks but it wasnt a successful journey as every single lock was replace with brand spanking new ones.. hmm
Maybe better luck at the 'Gallery of Justice!' i can say i havent been there in over 3years and it was more entertaining than I thought, since random actors tried to scare you with stories about the old days and jail sentences of crimes you really didnt commit! but its all about playing along.
Got great photos of locks and some we could use:

looks like something out of saw, well creepy! but really nice

website suggestion

Ive been recommend by tom to look at this website to help with our project:
http://www.bornmagazine.org/projects/roses/
Press enter key and admire the way the website is formed - sight and sound use. We could take this as inspiration and a starting point to help us to create something similar in dreamweaver for our combination lock idea.
